I mean, the peace and quiet is nice but, it should not be that quiet right now. There should be an active inspection going on by our landscape maintenance company, Cagwin & Dorward, lot by lot, of all the fire hazardous plants and trees. This is not happening! I let our Fire Marshal Bill Tyler know this today in an email:

Hi Bill,
Just letting you know that I have not seen anyone here on Captain Nurse Circle doing inspections of our lots and the palm trees are still untouched. I am concerned because you told me they were going to deal with the palm trees right away. And that did not happen……They did not do anything….
I hope that you can find out what is taking them so long to get this done. I would like to be more involved with you on this or I feel it will just not be done the right way. It is too important to let it go on like this unsupervised and assuming everything is being done properly….
These landscape maintenance people (Cagwin & Dorward) tend to do a very poor (but expensive) job and in fact this landscape company is the very one that planted many of the high fire hazard trees in the first place. They also placed a lot of wood chips around our community recently and it costs us $26,000.00. They did that instead of removing high fire hazard vegetation….Crazy but true.
Just letting you know the reality here. I mean, this has been a very neglected problem for a long time and that is not good…

Here is Bill Tyler’s response:

Good morning Julia:
The Meadow Park HOA has authorized the lifting of limbs and removal of brush on Captain Nurse Circle per the fire mitigation plan and our request. The project has been scheduled for Monday September 22nd; Our inspector is confirming the HOA’s compliance in the areas inspected.
Also we have been informed that their office is taking this opportunity to have the rest of Meadow Park inspected by the landscape contractor so they can present a plan and budget to their Board of Directors.
Have a great weekend.

Huh? What?
This was a big joke people. They never came out and did a lot by lot inspection and that is the truth!!! And now the Novato Fire Protection District Fire Marshal knows too…..
Examples of High Fire Hazard Vegetation located currently on Captain Nurse Circle in Novato CA:

Palm Trees still not trimmed located on the corner of Captain Nurse Circle and Bolling Drive as of 09-19-14

Australian paper bark tree- very dry and lots of peeling bark. These trees are located through out our neighborhood.. It is a very invasive non native species.
